How can I determine which license I need?
The pricing is not based on the number of network devices or the number of interfaces on a network device.
Pricing is based on the total number of unique ARP entries in your network. This number is close to the number of wired and wireless devices accessing your network. There are three ways to calculate this number:
How would I calculate the number of ARP entries in my network?
Here is an example of counting the number of IP addresses assigned to users.
John has a Law Firm with 12 remote offices plus his main office. Each remote office has 10 - 100 users. The main office has 200 users. Users have an IP Phone plus a desktop or a laptop. Many users have BYOD devices like cell phones that access the companies Guest wireless network.
Estimate for John:
12 remote offices x 100 users (Laptop or Desktop) = 1200
12 remote offices x 100 users (IP Phones) = 1200
12 remote offices x 100 users (BYOD Cell Phones on Guest Network) = 1200
Main office 200 users (Laptop or Desktop) = 200
Main office 200 users (IP Phones) = 200
Main office 200 users (BYOD Cell Phones on Guest Network) = 200
Total = 1200 + 1200 + 1200 + 200 + 200 + 200 = 4200
John will have approximately 4200 unique ARP entries in his network.
What is the difference between the Perpetual license and the Annual License?
Here is the difference based on the previous example. John can purchase a Perpetual license, or he could purchase an Annual License.
John would purchase the Perpetual License with up to 5K Unique IP Addresses for $975 which includes one year of Maintenance and Support. Maintenance includes updates and patches. Support includes the bitB Online Service Desk. To keep support active, John would need to purchase annual support each year for $195. The first year of support is included with the purchase.
John would purchase the Annual License with up to 5K Unique IP Addresses for $300 which includes Maintenance and Support. Maintenance includes updates and patches. Support includes the bitB Online Service Desk.
